Yehudi the Hebrew for a Jew is related to the word Modeh as in to give thanks. In our first flutter of consciousness each morning we recite the 12 word formular , "Modeh Ani", expressing our thanks to G-d for opening our eyes again and giving us another opportunity to elevate our souls and the world by fulfilling our purposes. To be a Jew means to acknowledge our creator in every facet of our lives and not just when we find ourselves in times of need and distress. So remember the age old formular ... Modeh anee lifanecha melech chai vikayam, she-he-chezarta bee nishmatee b'chemla, raba emunatecha. I offer thanks to You, living and eternal king, for You have restored my soul within me; Your faithfulness is great. |
