There was a large turn-out with over 100 people attending our two Purim events last weekend.
On Saturday night we had a Megillah reading. The Power Point presentation was appreciated by both children and adults and enabled people to follow the story and gain a meaningful insight into Purim. Magician James Kennedy was on top form showing us his new coin bending trick! As usual the kids were enthralled. The Saturday night party was well attended despite the poor weather and we feasted on hotdogs, chips, salad and lots of L’Chaims.
On Sunday afternoon, Rabbi Danny and Anna invited the congregation to attend a second reading of the Megillah followed by a sumptuous feast, over 50 attended. The fresh salmon and smoked salmon salads and trifle prepared by Anna were simply beautiful. Irene Yona’s legendary whisky cake helped top up those L’Chaims.
Some Purim Photos have been posted to the Photo Gallery, please send in more any Purim Photos you would like published to Ruthie in the NMHC Shul Office. |

In the 16th century, the Kabbalists of Tzfat compiled a Tu B'Shvat "seder," somewhat similar to the seder for Passover. It involves enjoying the fruits of the tree, particularly those native to the Land of Israel, and discusses philosophical and Kabbalistic concepts associated with the day. Among other things, the seder is a great way to appreciate the bounty that we so often take for granted, and to develop a good and generous eye for the world around us.
