Chanukah Toy Appeal a Great Success |
|
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of NMHC members, the Chanukah Toy Appeal for Aleh in Jerusalem raised in excess of £900!. Some of this amount was raised by children who donated their Chanukah ‘gelt ’ and sponsored a toy to send to the children of Aleh, who have severe disabilities. Due to the amazing donations received, NMHC will be able to purchase additional much needed toys and specialized equipment for Aleh.

The Chanukah 2009 at NMHC held in conjunction with JLGB was a great success.

On the 5th night of Chanukah, immediate past-Chairman Howard Beach attended a candle-lighting reception at 10 Downing Street in the presence of the Chief Rabbi, Lord Mandelson and other cabinet ministers.

Candle-lighting was performed by Lord Sacks and other leaders of various Jewish groups.
Lord Mandelson gave an address in the absence of the Prime Minister who was in Copenhagen for the Global Summit.
Jim Murphy MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, and a great supporter of NMHC and the Jewish community, gave the “Glasgow contingent” a guided tour – including the Cabinet Board Room – and it was a fantastic and memorable experience. |
