Another strength of a congregation is when our esteemed Parnassim do not have a hard time finding someone to read/chant the weekly Haphtarah.  This sadly is the case in many shuls, since only a minority of members can be called upon to recite the Prophet’s lesson with no advance notice.

In general, it is never a good idea to be in the minority.  In this case, however, it is so.  This is why, and with the Wardens’ support, I intend to give a crash course on Haphtarah proficiency to those interested.  Please feel free to call or email me and discuss your thoughts on the matter.  I am also at your disposal should you wish to simply do your own Barmitsvah portion, and need a wee push in that direction.

While at it, why not re-celebrate your 13^th Jewish birthday?  Not sure I can guarantee gifts.

I also have in my back burner a plan for haphtarah-tropes tuition from scratch.  Once we have increased considerably the number of worshipers able to deliver a haphtarah, we will BN move unto something else.
